That time a hidden nail tore up my saw blade

Back in the day, we didn't have metal detectors for trees. I was cutting into what looked like a clean oak, and bam, hit a nail. Blade was toast, and the job stalled for hours. Now, I always scan with a detector first. Makes me miss the simple trust we had, but also glad for the gear that saves us grief.

Seriously, @sethm58, how many blades does it take to prove it's not a fluke?

One ruined blade made me a detector believer.

Consider that a single bad blade might just be a random fluke.

Springfield city trees often have hidden nails, I heard.
