A coffee shop regular's morning hello made me stop dodging brief chats

His simple habit of greeting everyone showed me that these small moments can make a place feel like home.

I read that these tiny interactions are actually how communities get built lol.

So my 'cool story bro' on a random tech thread is basically community service now? Guess I better start counting my 'same here' comments as volunteer hours. Next thing you know, upvoting a cat video is how we save democracy. All those one-word replies are the bricks, and our keyboard taps are the mortar. Pretty soon we'll get tax breaks for liking old posts.

I mean wow @alexpalmer, that's a wild thought. So you're telling me my random upvote on some old forum post, or replying "same" to a total stranger, actually builds something? It feels too small to matter, like dropping a single brick and calling it a house. But maybe that's how it starts? All those little "hey, I get it" moments adding up. Kinda blows my mind if you really think about it.

But isn't that giving way too much weight to just hitting a button?
