Found out my local library has a seed bank and I am shook
I was at the Oak Ridge library last Tuesday returning some books and I saw this little cabinet near the checkout desk. It was full of those little paper envelopes with seeds in them. I asked the librarian what it was and she said it is a seed bank where you can take free seeds, grow the plants, and then bring back seeds from your harvest later. I had NO idea libraries did stuff like this. There were tomato, basil, and even some flower packets. I grabbed three envelopes for my garden this spring. Has anyone else found random cool stuff at their library that you never expected?

oh man that reminds me of something that happened to my friend sarah last summer. she lives over in springfield and her library had this little "library of things" section where you could check out stuff like cake pans and hiking poles and even a sewing machine. she thought it was just a joke at first but she actually borrowed a bread maker for a weekend and made like three loaves of sourdough. said it was the best thing she ever did because she got to try it out before deciding if she wanted to buy one for herself. she still talks about it and now she checks out random stuff from there all the time. libraries are really stepping up their game in ways i never thought they would. keep an eye out because they might have more hidden gems like that seed bank you found.
