Getting stuck in traffic today changed how I see my daily commute
I was running late for a dentist appointment and hit a long backup on the freeway. Instead of getting angry, I turned off the news and played my favorite album from high school. It dawned on me that I waste so much energy worrying about things I can't change. Now I'm trying to use drive time for things I enjoy, like singing badly to old songs.
Yeah but sometimes that mindset shift can turn into overthinking it later. Like you get so focused on staying positive that you stress about slipping up.
Oh man, reading that reminded me of the grocery line. I got stuck behind someone with a million coupons last week and instead of stewing I just people watched. Saw the funniest little kid trying to hide a candy bar in the bread.
My old Honda's AC died last summer on the 405. Stuck in that heat, I finally listened to a podcast my friend kept telling me about. It was a total game changer. Now I look forward to that quiet time just for me. It turns a waste of time into something I actually like.
