Spent $80 on a cheap ER visit copay that saved me way more

I had this weird cough that wouldn't go away for like two weeks. Kept putting it off because I didn't want to drop cash on a doctor visit, you know? Finally went to urgent care and turns out I had walking pneumonia. That $80 copay probably saved me from ending up in the hospital later which would've cost me way more than that. It's annoying to spend money when you feel fine-ish, but it really burned me in the past ignoring stuff like this. Has anyone else had a small medical bill save them from a bigger nightmare?

$80 for a scare beats a few thousand for a real hospital stay any day of the week.

Exactly. $80 upfront is nothing compared to a multi-thousand dollar ER bill plus lost wages from being out sick longer. People hate spending on prevention but it's like paying for insurance you actually use. The real nightmare is ignoring something small until it turns into something big and expensive.
