Tried asking a question here with a really specific number and got a totally different answer than I expected

I asked 'what's the best way to save $1000 in six months' and the top reply was a detailed plan to make an extra $200 a month instead of just cutting costs. It flipped my whole thinking. Anyone have a similar experience where the answer wasn't what you asked for, but was way better?

Yeah but even @the_max could probably find a tiny side gig.

Grace has a point though... sometimes cutting back is the only real move if you're tapped out on time and energy. Pretending everyone can just find extra income ignores how worn down people already are.

But what if you can't make more money right now? That advice just makes people feel stuck. Sometimes cutting costs is the only real option for a lot of folks.

My budget for fun last month was three dollars and a stale bagel.
