Update: A friend told me my podcast audio sounded like I was talking in a closet, so I spent $150 on a mic and moved to a smaller room.

I mean, I always thought my voice was just fine, but after they said that, I switched from my laptop mic to a Blue Yeti and recorded in my walk-in closet instead of the living room, so what's a bigger deal, the gear or the space?

Honestly @fionat55, my cousin did that and got way more views.

Honestly I gotta disagree here @hollyscott! A good mic filters out way more background noise than any room can, plus who cares about echo when you can just clean it up in post.

Talking in a closet" is a perfect description of my first attempts. The space matters a ton for killing echo, way more than a fancy mic alone. I learned that the hard way, kinda like @fionat55's brother probably did.
