Vent: a convo with my mom last Tuesday made me rethink how I handle money
She just casually said she wished she'd saved $50 a month starting at 25 instead of buying all those CDs, and now I'm sitting here staring at my own monthly coffee shop spending like a fool.

Just put $10 aside each week before you buy anything else.

Tried that exact method and it worked, but I had to make it automatic. I set up a transfer the same day my paycheck hit, moved the money into a separate account I don't check often. Kept the amount small enough that I never missed it, then bumped it up $5 every few months. The key was forcing myself to treat it like a bill, not a choice.
