Why does nobody talk about how much better it is to ask a clear, specific question here instead of a vague one?
I used to just post 'help with my project' and get nothing, but after a user named Greg pointed out I needed to include the actual error code and my OS, I got a working fix in 20 minutes.

Whoa, hold up. I mean, yeah, being specific helps a ton, but I feel like people act like it's life or death or something. It's just a forum post, not a medical diagnosis, you know? Half the time I'm asking for help, I'm frustrated and typing one handed on my phone, so yeah my question might be sloppy. If someone really wants to help, a simple "hey, what OS?" isn't that hard to type back. Getting mad about it just feels like overkill to me.

But what about when you don't even know what the right question is? Sometimes you're so stuck you can't be specific. @pat_harris, getting a fix is great, but the first reply to a vague post should just ask for those details instead of ignoring it. Skipping over beginners helps no one.

Exactly, @averyc94! I see this all the time on forums. People just post "it's broken" and get mad when nobody helps. Asking a few simple questions fixes that. I was totally lost once trying to fix a driver issue, and someone just asked for my Windows build number. Felt like a lightbulb went off. That small push to be specific is EVERYTHING for someone starting out.
