Yeah, "check it out on a bigger screen" is the real answer here. Phones just crush astro photos into mush sometimes. I've had friends tell me my shots look fuzzy too, then they see them on a tablet and suddenly they get it. He probably just needs to see the detail you actually captured.

...and honestly Paige, I think you're overthinking it. The guy's dad probably just glanced at it on his phone while walking past. Half the time people say "blurry" about astro shots it's because they don't realize stars are supposed to look like tiny dots, not giant glowing orbs like in cartoons. @paige_bell81 I'd just tell him to check it out on a bigger screen or at least turn the brightness up.
