Starting a notebook for your gear settings and locations changed everything for me. Keeps all those little moments you'd forget before you even get home.

Oh wow, that's a really good point. I used to just focus on the look of things, but hearing the story behind them actually makes the picture mean more.

Yeah, the story adds a layer you can't get from just a nice photo. David_walker97 isn't wrong that a pretty picture has its own value, but for me, knowing why something was taken or what happened right before makes it stick in my head way longer. It turns a good shot into something I actually remember.
