Tried stacking photos of the moon with my phone and got a hot mess

I aimed my Samsung at the full moon last night and took 50 shots hoping to stack them into one crisp image. The software combined them and turned the moon into a blurry blob that looked like a fried egg from a diner. Has anyone else tried astrophotography with just a phone and gotten something weird instead of cool?

Does it really have to be that perfect, though? I mean, it's a phone camera, not a telescope. I've tried a few times and got something similar, but I just thought it was funny and moved on. Maybe folks are expecting too much from a gadget that's designed for selfies and cat pictures.

Ngl though, if you're gonna take the time to capture the moon, why not try to get it right? It's about pushing what these little sensors can do, not just settling for whatever blurry mess pops up. Yeah, it's a phone camera, but getting a sharp shot of the moon is totally doable if you tweak the settings instead of just pointing and shooting.

Tbh stacking phone shots of the moon almost always turns it into a weird blob.
