Watch the light pollution at Cherry Springs, it's getting worse
I drove up to Cherry Springs State Park last Friday and the Milky Way was barely visible from the main lot, that's never been the case before. A ranger told me they've seen a 20% drop in clear night visibility over the last 2 years, mostly from new gas station lights on Route 44. Has anyone else noticed this at their usual dark site, or is it just my bad luck with the moon phase?

My buddy Dave drove out there in June with his son for the Perseids and he said the same thing, the sky looked washed out over the treeline to the south. He actually pulled out his phone to check if there was a wildfire haze somewhere, but there wasn't, it was just those new LED floods at the truck stop on 44. He's been going there for fifteen years and said he almost turned around and drove home when he saw it.
