Had a talk with my neighbor that changed how I mow

Old man down the street stopped me last week while I was cutting my lawn. He said I was running the mower too fast and that's why I kept getting those ugly brown stripes. I slowed it down to the lowest speed on my Husqvarna and the grass actually looks even now. Anyone else ever get lawn advice from someone who has no reason to be right?

Oh man, that's peak neighbor wisdom right there. Guess I've been speed-running my lawn care this whole time for nothing.

Nodding hard at this. @colegarcia same boat here - been running my mower like I'm trying to beat a high score for years. Slowed it down after this post and my yard actually looks like something from a magazine. Who knew the trick was just to chill out.

Old man was absolutely right. Mower speed is everything. I run mine on the slowest gear now and double cut if it's really tall. Also check your blade sharpness once a month. Dull blades tear the grass instead of cutting it clean. That's what causes that white frayed look at the tips. Little things like that separate a good lawn from a great one.
