Noticed my grass got way greener after I changed my watering time
I used to water my lawn at like 5pm every day because it was convenient after work. A guy at the hardware store told me to switch to 6am instead, said the water soaks in better before the sun hits. After about two weeks I could really see the difference, the grass was darker and I was using less water too. Has anyone else seen that big of a change just by moving when you water?

Funny how watering your lawn at 5pm was basically giving the mosquitoes a free happy hour. Now you're up at 6am like a deranged rooster but hey, the grass is happy. I tried the same switch and my lawn went from looking like a bad toupee to something you could actually land a helicopter on. Less water, less fungus, and I get to feel superior to all the neighbors still watering during the heat of the day.

My neighbor did the 6am switch and his lawn got all patchy and weird. He ended up with more runoff cause the ground was still cold and wet from the night. I tried it for a month, @joseph48, and my grass actually got lighter and more yellow. Weird how things work different for different yards I guess. 5pm watering gave me a nice deep soak that lasted through the night here in Texas.

You gotta adjust timing based on your soil type and sun exposure, I had to water at 7am in the spring then bump it to 5am once July hit. Check if your grass is getting full sun or partial shade because that changed everything for my yard.
