Overheard a golf course superintendent say 'bentgrass is dying in July' and it started a whole debate

He said bentgrass needs 90 days of cool weather for a good putting surface, but another guy swore by Bermuda hybrids that handle Atlanta heat better. Which grass type holds up best for local courses around here?

Bentgrass is just asking for trouble down here honestly.

Honestly not sure I'd go that far. Bentgrass is tricky but people act like it's impossible to manage if you just keep up with water and mowing. We've got a few bentgrass patches on our course and they do fine through summer with some extra care. I think the real problem is people expecting it to look perfect without putting in the work. Yeah it's more maintenance but it's not like it's automatically doomed. Just takes effort like anything else.

@robin896 gets it, bentgrass is just punishing yourself down south.
