Switched from my neighborhood Facebook group to the ATL local chat room for storm updates and I'm not going back
Last Tuesday when that line of storms rolled through Decatur I was watching my neighbor's Facebook group and the power went out at 7:40pm. Somebody in the ATL local chat room posted the actual outage map link and a tree down on Ponce within about 4 minutes, while the FB group was still arguing about whose dog was barking. The chat room folks also knew which Kroger on North Druid still had ice at 9pm, which was a solid 40 minutes faster than any post showed up on Facebook. I used to think a big group was better because more people means more info, but it turns out 30 people actually paying attention beats 200 people mostly posting pics of their dinner. Anyone else in here made the switch, or do you still keep both open during storms?
