Took me 3 weeks and a drive to Decatur to finally get ATL local chat working on my phone
So I kept getting that spinning wheel every time I opened ATL local chat on my phone, and it drove me up a wall. I messed with my wifi, cleared the cache twice, even deleted and reinstalled the app one night at like 11pm. Nothing worked. Finally a guy at the Verizon store on Ponce told me my phone had an old VPN profile still turned on from a free trial I forgot about 8 months ago. Turned it off and boom, chat loaded in 2 seconds. Three weeks of on and off messing around for a 30 second fix. Anyone else ever get burned by some random setting they forgot they even turned on?

That VPN thing is sneaky because it doesn't show up in your normal settings unless you dig into the profile section. Had something like that with an old email account that was still syncing in the background and killing my battery and data for months. The phone never told me. It just quietly sat there doing its thing.
