Tried to fix my own leaky faucet and flooded the kitchen instead

So I watched a 10 minute YouTube video on how to replace a washer in a bathroom sink. 30 minutes later water was spraying everywhere and I had to call a plumber at 8pm on a Saturday. Cost me $250 plus the mess. Learned my lesson about DIY plumbing the hard way. Anyone else got a simple repair that went totally sideways?

Omg girl I feel your pain so hard! I tried to patch a tiny hole in my drywall with spackle and ended up with a crater the size of my fist. Then when I tried to sand it down, I just made it worse and had to call a handyman who charged me $150 to fix my mess. It's like the universe punishes us for trying to save a few bucks. Honestly, I've learned to just let the pros handle anything involving water or walls now lol.

Ha, isn't that always how it goes though? I used to be all about the DIY mindset for anything around the house, thinking I could save some cash and learn a new skill, but your story definitely just changed my mind on that. It's crazy how a little patch job can spiral into an expensive problem way faster than just hiring someone from the start.

Grab a bucket and some towels before you even touch a wrench next time... always turn the water off at the shutoff valve under the sink first, not just the faucet handle.
