Walked around the new BeltLine section vs the old one last weekend

I finally checked out the new Northeast section of the BeltLine near Armour Yards. The pavement is smoother and the crossings feel way safer. But the old section from Piedmont Park down to Inman Park just has more shade and actual stuff to stop at. I counted maybe two benches on the new stretch per mile. The old part has random food trucks and those little art installations that make it interesting. Felt like I was on a treadmill for 2 miles up there. Has anyone else walked both and noticed the difference in how the spaces are used?

You mentioned the "treadmill" feeling and I have to disagree a little. I actually prefer the new section for the exact reason you think its boring. More pavement and less clutter means I can actually get a real walk in without dodging kids or stopping every fifty feet for a food truck line. The old section is nice for an afternoon stroll, but its more of a social scene than a walking path. I'll take those smooth crossings and open sightlines over a random art installation any day.

That's EXACTLY it. I walk that new section three times a week and the difference is night and day. You get into a rhythm without having to stop every two minutes for a stroller or a group photo. It's a place for walking, not hanging out, and I honestly appreciate that.
