Appreciation post: a guy at my Tuesday morning meetup said my intro was too long, so I built a 20 second version
I go to a small business meetup in Alpharetta every Tuesday at 7:30am and I always gave this rambling 2 minute intro about my design work. Last week a guy named Dale pulled me aside and said flat out, "you lost me at the second sentence, cut it down." I timed myself that night and my intro was actually 1 minute 50 seconds, which is way too long for a room of 30 people. So I wrote out a 20 second version with just what I do and one thing I need help with, and I tried it this past Tuesday. Three people asked for my card afterward, which never happened before. Has anyone else rebuilt their elevator pitch after getting called out like that?
