Figured out the trick to getting past gatekeepers at local meetups
After striking out emailing organizers for 3 months in a row, I started showing up early and offering to help set up chairs and now I've got direct intros to three senior engineers at the Buckhead cybersecurity mixer.

Wow, is it really that hard to get into these things? I've been to a few local tech mixers and always just signed up online without any issues. Showing up early to set up chairs sounds like a lot of effort for what's basically just a networking event.

Right @knight.uma? I had the exact same thing happen at a big conference last year - signed up online but still had to show up early just to help set up tables and signs before the thing even started. Kind of felt like they took volunteers for granted.

Read a blog that said tech conferences love free labor. @dakota_miller93 nailed it.
