Had a convo with a random at a coffee shop that totally changed how I look at biz cards
I was grabbing a cold brew in Midtown last Saturday and this older guy handed me a biz card made of recycled denim or something wild like that. He said nobody looks at cards that feel like regular paper anymore, and honestly I've ignored 90% of the cards I've gotten this year. What's the weirdest or most effective biz card you've seen at a networking event?

Dude, same here. I got a metal one from some insurance guy once and thought it was cool for like 5 minutes, then it just scratched up everything in my wallet. 99% of cards end up in the trash either way, fancy or not.

Is it really that serious though? Like a recycled denim card is gonna make me suddenly want to do business with some random guy from a coffee shop. Paper cards work fine, you just gotta hand them to people who actually need what you do. Half the time I get a fancy card, I still lose it in my glovebox or the back of a drawer somewhere. And honestly if I'm buying a car or hiring a plumber, the paper they hand me is the last thing I care about. It's the follow up email that matters, not how the card feels.
