Hit 500 connections at the exact same Atlanta meetup I failed at in 2018

I finally passed 500 contacts on my list right before walking into the Buckhead mixer where I got zero cards six winters back, and the guy running it remembered me by my old company name, so has anyone else had a comeback moment at the same spot where they first flopped?

Connecting the dots is nice, but I'd push back on the idea that it's a comeback. A list of 500 names means very little if most of them don't remember you or need what you do. I've seen guys with 2,000 contacts who can't book a coffee chat, and others with 80 who close deals monthly. The real win isn't the number, it's whether that guy at the door called you by name because you actually brought value this time, not because you hit a round number. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather have 50 solid relationships from that room than 500 strangers I sent a LinkedIn request to.
