I was at a Thursday morning coffee thing by Piedmont Park and this older dude told someone that most people never reply after the first email, so a simple 48 hour follow-up puts you in the top 10%. I realized I've been treating events like one-shot chances instead of starting points. Who else has had luck with a specific follow-up rhythm that actually gets responses?

Figure out what actually works for you instead of just copying that 48 hour thing. I tried that exact trick and got maybe two replies out of twenty. The issue is people get a ton of emails, and a quick follow-up still gets buried. What worked way better for me was sending a first email the same day with something specific we talked about, then waiting a full week before checking in. That week gap makes it feel less pushy and more like you respect their time. Also, always ask a yes or no question in that second email, like "want me to send over those links?" It makes replying super easy for them. Just don't overthink the exact hours, it's more about the quality of what you say.
