Overheard a guy at the Marietta meetup say he books 1 coffee a day and closes half of them
I was at that Thursday night networking thing in Marietta last month and this guy next to me at the snack table said he blocks out one hour every single day just for a coffee with somebody new, and he swears about half turn into real work down the road. I kind of rolled my eyes at first because I used to think networking meant hitting up big events and collecting cards. But he pulled out his phone and showed me his calendar, and it was just names, no company logos, one at 8am, one at 2pm, stuff like that. What got me was he said he books the person he already knows is busy first, because those are the ones who actually show up. I tried it for 2 weeks, got 8 coffees on the books, and 3 of them led to intros I would never have gotten from a mixer. The biggest change for me was dropping the whole pitch thing and just asking what they were stuck on that month. He said one of his best clients came from a coffee where neither of them talked business until the last 5 minutes. Curious if anyone else here runs a daily or weekly coffee thing and what your no-show rate looks like.
