Peer-to-peer meetups seemed like a waste until I gave one in Buckhead a chance
I skipped maybe 6 months of Atlanta networking events because I figured everyone was just selling stuff, but the one last Tuesday at that coffee shop off Peachtree turned into three solid referrals, so what's your trick for spotting the good meetups from the fluff?

Ugh, honestly I think you got lucky more than anything. I've been to a dozen of those Buckhead meetups and walked away with nothing but a sore hand from shaking and a phone full of people who ghost you the second you don't buy their SaaS thing. Last month I hit one that looked promising, small group, specialty topic, and it was just two insurance guys arguing over referral splits while everyone else checked their watches. Maybe the coffee shop angle helps since it's less formal, but I'd rather spend that hour doing actual outreach than rolling dice on a room full of folks who all want something from me.
