Pro tip: my Tuesday lunch spot leads dried up after they 'updated' the app, and I'm not the only one
I go to the same cafe near the Perimeter every Tuesday and for about 10 months I met 3 or 4 other regulars there without even trying. You just sat down and talked to whoever was around. About 6 weeks ago the owner switched us all to a check-in app, and now everyone sits alone staring at their phone. I counted 2 actual conversations in there today, down from maybe 10 before. Has anyone found a way to keep the casual meetups going once a place moves everything to an app?

Wait, the owner actually did this on purpose? That's wild to me. Dude had a good thing going with people showing up and talking every week, and he traded it for an app that makes everyone sit in silence. Ten conversations down to two is a huge drop, you'd think he would notice something was off. Maybe the move is to just keep sitting at the same table at the same time and wave the old crew over, app or no app.
