That awkward moment when my coffee turned into a networking icebreaker

I was at a meetup at Ponce City Market last Tuesday, trying to balance a latte and a stack of business cards, when I tripped over a charging cable and spilled half my drink on someone's laptop bag. The guy was super chill about it, said it happens all the time at these things, and we ended up talking for 20 minutes about local coworking spots. Has anyone else had a clumsy moment that actually led to a good connection?

Free promotional coffee spill AND a new contact? Seems like you accidentally found the ultimate networking hack.

@oliviabutler "accidentally found" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Pretty sure you planned that whole thing and just made it look smooth.

Friend of mine did something like this at a trade show. She spilled an entire cup of cold brew on some big executive's shoes and instead of being mad, he laughed and said it was the most memorable thing that happened to him all week. They ended up talking for like twenty minutes while the janitor came by with a mop. She still does business with that guy's company three years later.
