The $200 'premium' LinkedIn profile review that made me cringe

I dropped $200 on a LinkedIn profile review from some Atlanta 'networking expert' who promised to get me more connections. All I got was a generic template that said to add buzzwords like 'synergize' and 'thought leader' - stuff I'd never say in real life. On the flip side, a buddy paid $150 for a similar service and says it landed him three solid leads in a month. So is paying for profile help worth it, or am I just bitter about my bad experience?

Bet your buddy just got lucky and you got the real deal.

Hear me out - sometimes a good profile reviewer actually knows what recruiters in your field are searching for and can tweak your keywords without making you sound fake. My own profile got way more views after someone helped me swap vague phrases for specific industry terms I actually use every day. It sounds like you got a lazy cookie-cutter service, but that doesn't mean the whole idea is worthless.

Bitter, maybe, but not wrong. Your buddy's "three solid leads" could easily be coincidence or he's counting a recruiter's "let's connect" as a lead. I've seen people swear by those services and others end up with the same "synergize" boilerplate you got. It's a total crap shoot. Unless the person actually knows your industry cold, you're just paying for a resume rewrite with fancier fonts. $200 for buzzwords is a ripoff in my book.
