Took 3 trips to get a simple badge access at Buckhead tower

Last week I had to visit a client office in the Buckhead area and the front desk gave me a temp badge that only worked on the 1st floor elevator. The guy said use it for the 12th floor, but it beeped red every time. Security had to call their IT guy who took 40 minutes to fix it, and the badge still failed on my way out. Anyone else deal with badge readers that have a mind of their own in Atlanta buildings?

Badge readers are the perfect example of how we've built a whole system around being "secure" without actually testing whether it works for real people. It's like every office tower in this city has the same broken logic: slap a card on a sensor and call it access control, but never check if the floors match the person's actual clearance. Security ends up being more about babysitting the technology than protecting anyone, and the people who suffer are just trying to do their job. Honestly, it mirrors how so much of modern life works now. We automate stuff to save time, then spend triple the time fighting the automation when it fails. That badge was probably issued correctly in some database, but nobody bothered to sync it with the elevator system, so it's just dead weight until someone human gets involved. And that's the thing, real security should have a backup plan that works in two minutes, not forty.
