Vent: Picked the wrong IT support group for a year.

Had to choose between two local networking groups last year. One was super formal, like suits and agendas at a Buckhead office tower. The other was a casual meetup at a Midtown bar with pizza. I went with the fancy one because I thought it looked more professional. Spent 12 months and about $300 on dues, and barely got any real leads from it. The conversations were all stiff, people just traded business cards and left. Meanwhile, my buddy in the bar group got three solid contracts in six months. Kicking myself for not seeing the fake hustle earlier. Has anyone else walked out of a group that looked good on paper but delivered nothing?

Ditch the suits next time and go where the beer flows.

Yeah it's funny how people think you need to dress up to have a serious conversation. Every time I go to something casual the real talk happens way easier.

My backyard barbecues always end up with the deepest talks too, it's the best.
