was skeptical about paying for fancy BNI membership, now I'm eating my words

I used to think those paid networking groups like BNI were just money grabs, but a buddy dragged me to his chapter in Dunwoody and I landed a small deck job worth $1,200 from a guy I met that first morning. The structure felt forced at first but the referrals kept coming. Anyone else change their mind on paid networking groups after giving them a shot?

Treat it like a garden you have to water before you get any veggies. Sent out three leads before I got my first one back. Took about 4 months but the ROI on my dues is like 5x now.

The structure felt forced at first" is exactly how I felt my first few meetings, but the key is to treat it like a sales funnel, not a social club. You just have to keep showing up and genuinely try to send business to other members first. After a few months of doing that, I got way more back than what I paid in dues.
