Had a nightmare of a day last Thursday with a shop vac and a dent puller

Sucked a shop rag into the vac while pulling a dent on a 2017 F-150 and the whole thing jammed up. Took me 45 minutes to dig it out and the customer was watching me the whole time. Anyone else have a simple job go sideways like that?

Not gonna lie, I read somewhere that shop vacs are basically designed to eat rags. Some guy on a forum said he lost a whole pair of gloves to one and now he tapes the intake down before he starts. 45 minutes with a customer watching is rough though, I'd be tempted to just say the vac needed a "performance upgrade" or something.

I mean yeah, "on you for not checking" is kinda harsh but honestly that's a hard lesson I learned the hard way too. I once spent like 20 minutes trying to get water out of a hose that was still kinked from storage, and the pressure was all wonky. Never again, now I always do a quick visual walk along the whole thing before I even turn the spigot on.
