I finally fixed a color match using the paint code off the glovebox sticker
Last Tuesday a customer brought in a 2015 Civic with a faded rear bumper, and I was eyeing the shade by the door. Then the guy says, "My buddy painted it before and just guessed, look at the trunk edge." So I took the time to read the actual paint code sticker instead of trusting my memory, and the mix came out spot on. Saved me a repaint and the customer smiled when he picked it up today. Anyone else have a quick save like that from checking the code instead of eyeballing it?
Who knew the glovebox sticker was actually useful for something? I swear half the time people just guess at a color and then act shocked when the bumper looks like a different car. Checking the code takes two seconds and saves you a whole respray, so the guesswork thing never made sense to me.
