Just had to pick between a full quarter panel or a section repair on a 2020 Silverado

The truck had a big dent from a parking lot hit, right at the wheel arch. I could either replace the whole panel for about $1200 in parts plus labor, or cut and weld in a smaller section. I went with the section to save the customer money and keep more factory metal. It took me an extra 3 hours to get the weld lines perfect and the metal straight. Now I'm thinking, was saving that money worth the extra time and risk of a visible seam? When do you guys choose a full panel over a section?

Lol, sounds like you just gave that truck a fancy new scar for half the price.

Maybe try hitting it with a little compound rubbing compound first before you go full send on the touch-up paint. Idk, I've had good luck using those little paint pens from the auto parts store but you gotta really shake them up good. The key is to go slow and build up thin layers, or it'll just look worse than the scratch did. I mean, a proper body shop job is always better but sometimes a $15 fix gets you through the winter. Just don't let it rust, that's the real killer.

That's a solid burn, @julias44. What did the truck do to deserve it?
