My kid asked me why we don't just replace every dented panel
I was fixing a crunched door on a 2018 Camry in the shop last week, and my 10-year-old was watching. He looked at the hours of pulling and filling and said, 'Why not just put a new one on?' I told him about cost and keeping the factory metal, but his simple question stuck with me. Maybe we do overcomplicate some repairs just because that's how we've always done it. When does a repair cross the line from being skilled work to just being stubborn?

Skilled work" is the whole point, isn't it?

Guess that's why my DIY projects look so bad.

It really does take a lot of practice to get good. My own projects have a long history of looking pretty rough. You just have to keep trying.
