Painted a bumper in 45 degree weather in my garage and the clear came out cloudy
Was spraying a rear bumper cover last Friday in my garage. Temp dropped to 45 and I didn't think much of it. Came out the next morning and the clear was cloudy and hazy as hell. I tried wet sanding with 1500 and buffing but it wouldn't clear up. Ended up sanding the whole thing back down to base and redoing it with a space heater running the whole time. Cost me about $60 in materials and a Saturday. Anyone got a cheap way to keep a garage warm enough for spraying when it's cold out?
Back when I tried the same thing in my unheated shed, my breath was fogging up more than the gun was. A cheap trick that worked for me was hanging a tarp to make a small booth and running a couple of those oil filled radiator heaters in there for an hour before I sprayed. It won't get you to 70 but keeping it around 60 makes a world of difference on the clear flashing off right.
