TIL a trick for stubborn door dings from a guy in a Tacoma shop three years ago.

He used a heat gun on low and a suction cup from a dent puller, not a hammer. Anyone else have a weird tool they use for something it wasn't made for?

Heat guns can be risky on modern paint, it's not the same as older single-stage stuff. I've seen guys accidentally cook the clear coat and cause a bigger, more expensive problem. A good plunger and some patience with hot water from a coffee maker works way safer for most small dents. That Tacoma trick sounds like it could go wrong real fast.

Honestly that hot water trick from a coffee maker is solid advice. I had a small dent on my Civic's door from a shopping cart. I heated up a big pot of water, poured it slowly over the spot, and it popped right out from behind with a gloved hand. Didn't mess up the paint at all.

Ever tried a toilet plunger on a car door? I mean, it sounds nuts but it works for those bigger shallow dents. You just need to get a good seal and pop it a few times. Way less scary than messing with heat and you probably already have one. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd rather try the dumb cheap fix first.
