Used a heat gun on a plastic bumper and it went from bad to worse

Had a small dent on a 2018 Civic bumper, so I tried using a heat gun on low to soften it up. After about two minutes, the plastic started to warp and get shiny in a weird way. I stopped right away, but now the dent is still there and the finish is messed up. Has anyone fixed a heat gun mistake like this, or should I just tell the customer they need a new part?

Watched a guy try to solder his own furnace board once.

I just watched a YouTube tutorial and fixed it myself.

That tutorial was for the 2018 model, yours is a 2021. The wiring harness is different.

The 2018 model and the 2021 model share the same frame mounting points for the main control board. The real difference is the firmware version which locks out certain diagnostic modes if you try to use the older wiring harness. I had a 2021 unit that kept throwing a communication error after following that same tutorial. Turns out you just need to short two pins on the J3 connector during the calibration step to bypass the lock. That part was buried in the comments section of the video, not the video itself. So you might have gotten lucky or missed that key step entirely.
