Figured torque sticks were a gimmick until a $180 set saved my butt on a Subaru in Denver
Honestly I used to think they were for guys who couldn't feel a fastener. I was the guy who'd torque by hand and call it good. Then a buddy talked me into a set for around $180 at a shop swap meet in Denver, and I figured worst case I wasted a little cash.
Few nights later I'm doing wheels on a customer's Outback and I catch myself about to lean on the impact and just send it. Grabbed the stick, buzzed them on, hit the wrench after to be sure, and every one landed right where it should. No stretched studs, no comeback.
I still use a real wrench for anything that matters, but for wheel nuts on the quick jobs these things save me time and my knuckles. What's your cutoff, do you run them on wheels only or nowhere at all?
