Got called out for my sloppy brake line flares at a meet in Boise
An older guy saw my work and said 'kid, that flare looks like a crushed soda can, it'll leak in a year'. I switched to a bench-mounted flaring tool and started using way more cutting oil. What's your go-to method for making perfect double flares every time?

My uncle taught me to deburr the inside and outside of the tube before flaring, which was a total game changer. It's like how the small prep steps in any job, from cooking to wiring, make the final result look pro. That extra minute with the file saves you from a leak later.

Wait, you can chuck those deburring tools in a drill? That's wild!

Hold up, you're still using a file? Get a proper deburring tool. A file can leave tiny grooves that mess up the seal. The cheap cone-shaped ones you chuck in a drill work way better and faster for smoothing the inside and outside edges.
