Had to pick between a new timing belt or just the water pump on a 2012 Camry
The customer's water pump was leaking but the belt looked okay, no cracks. I gave them the choice: just the pump for about $300 in parts and labor, or do the whole kit with the belt, tensioner, and pump for around $700. They went for the full job, which was smart because the tensioner pulley was starting to make noise. Anyone else run into this and have a good way to explain the cost difference to people?
