Just read that over half of all car fires start in the engine bay
I was looking at a report from the National Fire Protection Association and it said 55% of vehicle fires begin under the hood. I guess we all know electrical shorts and fuel leaks are bad, but seeing that number really hit home. Has anyone here actually dealt with a car fire, and what was the main cause?

Yeah, that cracked fuel line story is no joke. Keep a cheap fire extinguisher in your car, the kind rated for ABC fires. It's saved my butt once before.

Ever think about how many fires start because people just ignore weird smells? That burning plastic or hot oil scent is your car begging for help.

Had my old truck go up in smoke last year. Turned out a cracked fuel line was dripping right onto the hot exhaust manifold. That stat is scary real. My advice, check for any fluid leaks and get them fixed fast, especially anything oily near hot parts. A small drip can turn into a big problem real quick.
