Lost $200 on a "rebuilt" alternator from a sketchy online seller
I bought a remanufactured alternator off a random parts site for my 2012 F-150, thinking I was saving cash over the dealer price. It died completely after just 3 months, and when I pulled it out the bearings were totally shot and the casing had a crack I didn't catch at first. Has anyone else had bad luck with cheap rebuilds, or did I just pick the wrong seller?

Well hey, you paid the "stupid tax" on that one, I've definitely been there too. Easiest $200 you'll ever lose if you ask me.

Hang on though, isn't that $200 just the price of a lesson you actually learned? Feels like that's money well spent if you never make the same mistake again (and trust me, there are way more expensive lessons out there).

Call it a tuition fee for the school of hard knocks.
