PSA: The new DEF pump at the truck stop in Bakersfield is a total mess
Had a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia come in last week with a full SCR system fault. The driver had just topped off his DEF at that new pump off the I-5. The stuff was contaminated, maybe with water or diesel, and it crystallized in the dosing line. Cost him a full system flush and a new injector, over $800. Who's checking these pumps before they open them?

Wait, they charged him for the flush?

Yeah, the flush is a huge line item. I saw a breakdown for a Powerstroke repair where the flush itself was like $800 in labor and fluid. They have to run that cleaning solution through the whole system multiple times. Did your cousin get an itemized bill, or did they just give him one big scary number?

Bad DEF is a nightmare. My cousin's old Duramax got a tank of the bad stuff and it ate the whole SCR system. The repair bill was more than the truck was worth.
