Skipped the parts cannon and went with a used steering rack instead of a reman, and now I'm second-guessing it
Had a 2012 Civic in my bay last month with a leak at the rack boots and the customer was on a tight budget. I could've thrown a $480 reman rack at it or hunted down a $190 low-mile pull from a yard up in Fort Wayne. I went with the used one and it's been about 800 miles now with no leaks and the steering feels fine, but I keep wondering if I set myself up for a callback down the road. Curious what you guys do on budget jobs like this, do you stick with reman or roll the dice on a good pull?
