That one Thursday that turned into a 14 hour nightmare on a Subaru Outback
A few months back I had this 2010 Outback come in for what was supposed to be a simple timing belt job. Turned out the previous guy had stripped the crank bolt and I spent 8 hours just drilling and extracting it. Has anyone else dealt with a stripped harmonic balancer bolt on those older boxer engines?

Feel your pain man. That bolt location is pure evil when it strips out.

Honestly I'm gonna disagree here. That bolt being a pain is what separates people who actually know what they're doing from folks who just watch a YouTube video and grab a ratchet. If it was easy everyone would do it, you know?
