The moment I realized I was torquing lug nuts in the wrong pattern for 15 years
I was swapping tires on my F-150 last weekend and noticed the rotor was warped on the front passenger side. Turned out I'd been going clockwise around the wheel instead of the star pattern, and it caused uneven pressure over time. How long did it take you guys to figure out the right sequence?

Did you try tightening them in a star pattern instead?

Agree with most of that but 140 ft-lbs is a bit high for the average aluminum wheel on a Silverado. Factory spec is usually closer to 120-130 for most of those. I'd double check your specific year and wheel type before cranking it that tight.

Switching to the star pattern made a huge difference for me on my Silverado. I use a torque wrench now too, set to 140 ft-lbs for the aluminum wheels, and go in three stages. Light snug first, then about halfway, then full torque in that star sequence. My rotors stopped warping after that.
