The shift foreman swore by torque-to-yield, he was onto something
Back in 2019 I was rebuilding a 6.0 Powerstroke at a shop outside Tulsa and the old foreman kept telling me to stop using my torque wrench on head bolts and just measure the stretch. I thought he was nuts until I snapped two ARP studs trying to get them to spec. After he walked me through the stretch gauge method, the next set went in smooth and never leaked. Anyone else had better luck trusting measured stretch over a click torque wrench on modern diesel heads?
